The Gauntlet: Mudvayne Metal News

MUDVAYNE ends 2005 with accolades - Fans choose Mudvayne as Band Of The Year

Mudvayne 2005 was an incredible year for Epic recording artists Mudvayne, who released their impressive new record "Lost And Found" on April 12th to broad acceptance from fans, radio and media alike.

The press took very kindly to the new album, with the band receiving prominent coverage in Revolver, Guitar World, Entertainment Weekly, Metal Edge and many, many more. Internet attention was at a fever pitch with a major presence here on The Gauntlet, as well as the group being featured prominently on Mtv.com and RollingStone.com.

A massive touring effort followed the album's release including a headlining run with Life Of Agony, American Head Charge and Bloodsimple, an extremely noteworthy placement on the line-up of Ozzfest 2005, playing directly behind headliners Black Sabbath and the legendary Iron Maiden and yet another high-profile headlining jaunt on the Masters Of Horror tour with Sevendust, Bobaflex and 10 Years along for the ride. The band also made an international impact with noteworthy performances in Europe, Japan, New Zealand and Austrailia.

In addition, the group enjoyed a prominence on soundtracks like SAW II and Masters Of Horror, further increasing the group's already considerable profile. These appearances further solidified the band's foothold at the top of the rock heap.

The end of the year found Mudvayne graced with scores of accolades. Billboard's Monitor named the group's "Happy?" Active Rock Song Of The Year (where it held the #1 position for a substantial ten week period), while the video clip for the track was awarded the #1 spot on MTV2's Headbangers Ball program. The group recieved a nomination for the 48th annual Grammy awards for Best Metal Performance for their track "Determined", with the winner of the balloting to be announced Wedensday, February 8th on CBS. Several radio stations have picked "Happy?" as the #1 rock song of 2005, with other tracks from 'Lost And Found' placing high on the lists of year-end favorites.

Mudvayne was named Band Of The Year by the fans in The Gauntlet's Year End Poll, with over 35,000 fans checking in to cast their vote.

KISS' Ace Frehley was stopped by security trying to get into a Go-Go's concert. He wasn't on the guestlist, but claimed to be a good friend of Belinda Carlisle.
