The Gauntlet: Megadeth Metal News

Megadeth's Dave Mustaine Made Christmas Special

Megadeth Rocker Dave Mustaine has turned Santa Claus for a group of San Diego, California-area children who face Christmas without homes or parents after a successful charity campaign left him filling sacks with toys.

The Megadeth frontman teamed up with Hasbro toys after fans helped him raise cash to buy gifts for military kids with parents serving overseas at Christmas or killed by the war in Iraq.

Firefighters' children and others less fortunate will also benefit from Mustaine's gifts.

The kind-hearted rocker says, "I was able to get a whole bunch of toys... I bought nine-and-a-half pallets of toys and am donating them to the children who have lost their homes and ultimately their toys and their little worlds. The church I go to, that has 300-400 military children whose parents are deployed; the Toys For Tots with the Marines, who always have given toys to kids, and lastly our firefighters down here."

Much of the money raised came from purchases of Mustaine's new charity coffee brand, Legends Cup, at Megadeth concerts.

In the website message to fans, the thrilled rocker says, "None of this would be possible without your support of Legends Cup Coffee Cup. Thank you guys, I really, really mean it."
