The Gauntlet: Underoath Metal News

UNDEROATH SET TO KICK OFF "DIRTY SOUTH TOUR" MAY 13 IN JACKSONVILLE, FL

Underoath After wrapping their hugely successful U.S. tour with Taking Back Sunday, UNDEROATH--known for their thrilling mix of mayhem and melody, catharsis and experimentation--return to the road May 13-23 for their headlining “Dirty South Tour” with Norma Jean, Maylene and the Sons of Disaster plus The Glass Ocean. As I Lay Dying will make a special appearance on the two Atlanta, GA shows.

From there, UNDEROATH--whose critically hailed DEFINE THE GREAT LINE album is now certified gold after having entered the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart at #2--head down under for four special shows in Australia with Emery (June 7-10) and a headlining gig in Hawaii. To date, the band has sold over one million albums worldwide.

Next, UNDEROATH will join the Vans Warped Tour midway on July 23 in Charlotte, NC and perform shows through August 9 in Boston. This fall, look for UNDEROATH to storm America on a headlining tour where they’ll captivate audiences with material from such albums as DEFINE THE GREAT LINE (a “transcendent” work which received a 5 out of 5 star review in Alternative Press) and They’re Only Chasing Safety--their 2004 indie smash that has sold over 405,000 copies. In the midst of this non-stop touring schedule, the band will also perform at the Cornerstone Festivals in Orlando, FL (May 12) and Bushnell, IL (June 30).

For UNDEROATH--lead vocalist SPENCER CHAMBERLAIN, guitarist TIM MCTAGUE, bassist GRANT BRANDELL, drummer AARON GILLESPIE, keyboardist CHRISTOPHER DUDLEY and guitarist JAMES SMITH---the Dirty South Tour is “…exactly what it says it is--four bands from the Southeast that have all worked their way to where they are through years of hard touring,” according to BRANDELL. “We’re coming together to rock the South, eat some BBQ and hang out with each other and the fans that have supported all of us from the beginning."

The New Jersey punk trio Buzzkill was originally known as Butthead when they formed in 1990, but had to change their name two years later when MTV's Beavis & Butthead became a massive success. Ironically, MTV also had a grunge/alt-metal show called Buzzkill, which aired during the mid-'90s.
