The Gauntlet: Linkin Park Metal News

Linkin Park Goes Platinum


Linkin Park Further solidifying their place as one the world's leading rock acts, Linkin Park's third studio-release "Minutes to Midnight," has been certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America for sales exceeding 1 million copies in the U.S. in just 4 weeks. "Minutes to Midnight" debuted at #1 and sold 623,996 copies in its first week alone, making it the highest debut of the year. "It's not a stretch to say that they could be the biggest act on the planet," says James Montgomery of MTV.

"Minutes To Midnight" has already shipped over 3.3 million worldwide. The album has reached the #1 in 32 countries and is certified platinum in 16 countries.

Linkin Park will kick-off their Projekt Revolution tour on July 25th in Auburn, WA, zigzagging the nation with a final stop in Englewood, CO. This year's line-up includes Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance, Taking Back Sunday, HIM, Placebo and Julien-K on the Main Stage and Mindless Self Indulgence, Saosin, The Bled, Styles of Beyond and Madina Lake on the Revolution Stage. In addition to Projekt Revolution, Linkin Park will also headline the Tokyo portion of this summer's Life Earth concert series. This 24-hours, 7-continenent, world-wide event taking place on July 7, 2007 will raise awareness of the Global Climate Crisis. Over 100 artists including Snoop Dogg, Chris Cornell, Smashing Pumpkins, Fall Out Boy and Sheryl Crow will perform in the concert series which is expected to reach over 2 million people worldwide.

Linkin Park is Chester Bennington (vocals), Rob Bourdon (drums), Brad Delson (guitar), Joe Hahn (DJ), Dave "Phoenix" Farrell (bass), and Mike Shinoda (vocals). They have earned two Grammy Awards, the first for Best Hard Rock Performance in 2002 with their hit single "Crawling" and the second for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration with Jay-Z in 2006 for the innovative "Numb/Encore." Linkin Park has sold 40 million records worldwide since their debut in 2000. The Diamond-Certified Hybrid Theory has alone sold more than 18 million copies.     Hardcore Annal Sects

Kirk Hammett of Metallica was vacationing in Cabo San Lucas and walked into Cabo Wabo while the Mexican band Vitamin T was playing a cover of 'Until It Sleeps'. Hammett walked over and grabbed a guitar and jammed along with the band.
