MORTIIS To Release Extended Version Of 'Perfectly Defect'

The 'name your price' concept in music is nothing new. A lot of bands used this model to self release EP's and bonus materials and not seem too greedy and capitalistic. MORTIIS has a different approach to the name your price sales concept, he set a minimum. For the extended version of "Perfectly Defect," Mortiis has set a minimum price of $1.99. It is a fair price to pick up the last CD for those that don't already have it plus you get three bonus tracks and some new artwork. As the album was released late last year as a free download, fans are basically only paying for the bonus material of the 3.

The release will be available from July 13 through August 13 only. The extended version comes with three bonus songs, new and extended artwork, and web content.

The download from will be available through www.mortiis.com at a "fan names the price" fee ($1.99 minimum). The release will be made instantly available to anyone who buys merchandise at any of the shows on the upcoming UK/European tour. "For free, of course," Mortiis said. "Buy a shirt, get the extended download album for free."

"We have some other pretty exciting stuff happening shortly after the one- month download ends, so there's pretty much constant movement over here these days and into the foreseeable future."

"Perfectly Defect" was released in the fall as a free digital download. Mortiis supported the release with a winter European tour with Combichrist and will return to the UK this summer for another jaunt­­­ with Combichrist. Additionally, four mainland Europe dates have been added to the tail end of the tour.

"It's been too long since we played in the UK," Mortiis said. "We're bringing over a new sound and a new band since we were last there. I think people will be surprised. It's a new monster now. We've turned our backs on a dark past and we look forward to a brighter future. What better place to start than the UK?"
