Axl Rose gives "listening party"

Guns N' Roses After nearly a decade and reportedly $13 million of work in the studio, it looks as if Axl Rose may have finally finished "Chinese Democracy," which has to be one of the most eagerly anticipated rock albums of all time.

According to the New York Post, the reclusive former Guns N' Roses frontman -- whose given name is William Bailey, by the way -- showed up the other night about 5:30 a.m. at Manhattan's Stereo nightclub, demanding to get in so he could continue his 44th birthday celebration.

Stereo's owners were just closing up when Rose enticed them with an exclusive "Chinese Democracy" listening party. Rose sent his driver to retrieve the CD -- which has been in the works since 1997 -- and the birthday boy and his entourage of babes and bandmates were allowed to party at Stereo until about 8 in the morning.

Rumors have long plagued "Chinese Democracy" -- particularly that it might never be released -- but those were finally quashed a month ago when Rose told Rolling Stone at a KoRn tour announcement party that "Chinese Democracy" was almost good to go.
"Some of the arrangements are kind of like Queen," Rose told Rolling Stone. "Some people are going to say, 'It doesn't sound like Axl Rose, it doesn't sound like Guns N' Roses.' But you'll like at least a few songs on there."

Rose had recorded 32 songs at that point, with 13 to be released on "Chinese Democracy."

Backing up Rose is an all-star lineup including Tommy Stinson of the Replacements, Buckethead, Brain "Brain" Mantia of Primus
