Linkin Park to donate tour proceeds to typhoon victims

Linkin Park (2008 credit James Minchin) Linkin Park is donating a portion of proceeds from tonight's show in Taipei to benefit victims of Typhoon Morakot. Working with their nonprofit organization, Music For Relief, the band is contributing funds from this evening's concert at the Taipei Soccer Stadium to aid in the recovery effort.

Typhoon Morakot struck Taiwan as a tropical storm earlier this week with winds of over 70 miles an hour. According to news reports, the damage has been devastating, with more than 10,000 dwellings toppled and hundreds trapped, possibly dead, as a result of mudslides.

"Our hearts go out to the families of the victims and we're praying for the swift recovery of the survivors," said Linkin Park vocalist Mike Shinoda. "Our thoughts are with the Taiwanese people during this difficult time."

The funds will be contributed to World Vision Taiwan and their relief and rehabilitation efforts. In addition to being part of the evacuation effort, World Vision has distributed food, cleaning supplies and relief kits to hundreds of people living in emergency shelters in Taimali Township and Jiadug Township in Taiwan. World Vision is an international relief, development and advocacy organization dedicated to working with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice.
