The Gauntlet: Yakuza Metal News

YAKUZA extends touring plans, continues with more dates with Intronaut

Yakuza Chicago forward-thinking metal act YAKUZA has extended touring plans into December with a string of dates playing alongside the like-minded Intronaut. Already teaming up with Intronaut for a string of dates with Misery Index and labelmates Burn In Silence, YAKUZA will soldier on for another handful of dates, also meeting up with Stretch Arm Strong and Vivisect along the way.

In other news, YAKUZA frontman Bruce Lamont recently took part in the making of a mix CD for charity. Helping out Chicago's Rock For Kids, proceeds went to the organization. "The organization asks club owners, musicians, writers, artists, etc. to put togther a mix CD and case and they are auctioned off," Lamont recently told ChuckRoaster.com (available here: http://www.chuckroaster.com/wordpress/?p=105). "This is the 3rd year I have done it. The disc ended up going for $50. Thats pretty cool." Lamont included YAKUZA's "Monkeytail" from the band's critically-lauded ‘Samsara' record.

YAKUZA has already shared tour dates earlier this year with Dysrhythmia, Isis, Behold...The Arctopus, 3, Cephalic Carnage, and The Number 12 Looks Like You among others, as well as appearance at the Eighth Annual New England Metal and Hardcore Festival, and with praise from metal and indie press alike, Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles has proclaimed that YAKUZA's "foaming at the mouth musical delivery is complemented by some of the raddest and most cohesively efficient song structures out there." Meanwhile, Kerrang has labeled 'Samsara' "a stupefying collision of lumbering, fuzzed-up riffs, prog-jazz oddness and warped psychedelia, played with enough shamanistic force to make the sky collapse itself." Recorded with producer/engineer Matt Bayles (Pearl Jam, Isis) in the band's hometown, 'Samsara' features guest appearances from pianist Jim Baker, cellist Fred Lonberg-Holm, Sanford Parker, and Mastodon's Troy Sanders.
