Mantic Ritual checks in from tour

MANTIC RITUAL drummer Adam Haritan checks in from the band's first tour for 2009 with Greece's Rotting Christ:

"Opening a few shows for a legendary band like EXODUS in December, we learned that those guys can be really down-to-earth and cool people in general. Even musicians who have been around a long time are still pushing themselves and giving 100% every time. Younger bands like us can really be inspired and learn a lot from veterans.

As far as this tour goes, things could've been pretty crazy if it wasn't for the thousands of dollars we put into getting a new engine for the van a few days before our departure. It's only Day One, so we're sure something unusual is bound to happen sooner or later! We're not trying out any new gear we got during the holidays; however [bassist] Ben [Mottsman] got a new 8 pound medicine ball that he brought on the road to keep slim and fit. He vows to keep his pouch at bay while also toning his anterior deltoids. In November, he bought a new Fender Jazz bass that we really liked the sound of. [Guitarist] Jeff [Potts] has a sexy pair of bell-bottoms from 1972 that he will be rockin' on this tour. Oddly enough, none of us own denim vests!

Our New Year's Resolution is to become super sexy for all the fans we will meet on the road - hence the medicine ball and bell-bottoms! But seriously, it's the same as the last couple of years: We'll be working hard and playing as many shows as we can, only this time we have a new release to promote."

All tour dates plus two songs off the MANTIC RITUAL debut thrash metal album, Executioner - due out in March on Nuclear Blast Records - are available at
