The Gauntlet: Madball Metal News

Madball To Hit The Studio In January

Madball New York hardcore legends Madball have issued the following update:

"Another year came and went and we want to give everyone a heads up on a few things. First off, thanks to everyone who continued to support the band in 2006. We did some amazing tours of Europe, Australia/New Zealand, South America, and of course the good ol' USA. A big thank you to everyone who came out and made the 2006 Persistence Tour such a huge success, as well as a big hello to the bands... Sick Of It All, Terror, Walls Of Jericho, Comeback Kid, The Distance, Destiny... we had a great time touring with you all, and hope to do it again in the near future.

"Lastly, and most important: We will be heading into the rehearsal studio starting in January to begin writing for our next full-length. We're hoping for a mid-2007 release date. We've already got some basic ideas down, and this promises to be our hardest record to date... Look out. We've got some shows in Florida at the end of January with our brothers in Agnostic Front. It's been a long time since we did a proper run in Florida, so we hope everyone comes out who's missed us anytime in the past."

Madball released its first album for Ferret Music, 'Legacy', in August 2005. The band this past spring took part in the European version of the Sounds of the Underground tour alongside Chimaira, Unearth, Terror, All That Remains and Manntis.

As previously reported, Madball frontman Freddy Cricien has been added to the bill of Brooklyn death-rapper Necro's premiere European appearance at The Scala, Kings Cross, London on January 11, 2007.

"I grew up with a love for all music," Freddy explained. "But there are two genres I've always been especially passionate about, the ones that I relate to the most. That's hip-hop and hardcore! I've made my mark in the world of hardcore and I'm very grateful for the career it's given me. Now it's time to showcase my other side....it's been a long time coming!"

Slayer's 1986 thrash metal classic, Reign in Blood, was originally to be distributed by CBS. When the label refused to do so (citing the graphic nature of the material), Rick Rubin and his label, Def American, stepped in.
