The Gauntlet: Poison Metal News

Legendary Rocker Bret Michaels took his show on the road to US Troops in Iraq

Bret Michaels Renowned rocker and Poison front man Bret Michaels took his show on the road to entertain US troops. Performing some of his chart-topping singles such as “Every Rose Has Its Thorn” and “Somethin’ to Believe In,” as well as new solo material from his upcoming album “Custom Built,” Bret brought, good time rock and roll to military personnel stationed throughout Southwest Asia. When asked what prompted the trip Michaels said he traveled half-way around the world because “I have such a tremendous respect for the troops and what they do for us.”

Why now? With season two of “Rock of Love with Bret Michaels” coming soon to VH1 Bret didn’t want to miss the opportunity to once again show his support for the troops. “It’s a real honor to be able to perform for the men and women that are fighting for our country. I just want to do what I can to give back by bringing them a night of great music because they deserve it.” With several family members and friends having served in the military, Michaels has always been an avid supporter of the troops. Every night since Operation Desert Storm, Michaels has mentioned troops on stage and ask fans to show their support for those fighting for our freedom.
After returning to from his jaunt to Iraq, Michaels is busy in preparation for “Rock of Love” 2. The season finale of Bret’s “Rock of Love” attracted 5.4 million total viewers and was also the #1 program on cable for the night.
In addition, notorious for throwing the wild parties, Michaels will ring in 2008 with his “Rock of Love” style New Year’s Eve event at the Myth in Maplewood MN. Rock’s most eligible bachelor will headline the affair which will also be filmed for VH1. Visit www.mythlive.com for more information.
As for Bret’s visit to Iraq, “It’s great to have the talent and star power of Bret Michaels play for our men and women of the military,” said Army Captain Trevor Garrett, Armed Forces Entertainment circuit manager for Southwest Asia. “He is a world-renowned rocker and his music appeals to such a diverse audience, which is exactly the type of crowd we have.”
