The Gauntlet: Metal News

Top 10 80's Glam Power Ballads

Remember when grown men and women would rock out with teased hair and skin tight leopard print pants? Easy woman filled the screens of the music videos groping the rock stars who displayed even bigger hair. These dysfunctional bands might have led to the end of the 80's era glam-metal scene, but the music lives on. After reading our good friend, Carlos Ramirez's Top 10 Power Ballads list, The Gauntlet decided to take a stab at it. This list is in no particular order as that would enrage both myself and those around me.

1. White Lion - "When the Children Cry"

2. Poison - "Every Rose Has It's Thorn"

3. Def Leppard - "Love Bites"

4. Kix - "Don't Close Your Eyes"

5. Slaughter - "Fly to the Angels"

6. Warrant - "Heaven"

7. Cinderella - "Don't Know What You Got (Till It's Gone)"

8. Damn Yankees "High Enough"

9. Faster Pussycat - "House of Pain"

10. Skid Row - "I Remember You"

I agree with RaspberryStinkFinger, so many so called metal fans dismiss 80's glam. Glam has some great riffs and solo's. I think a lot of naysayers are just pissed they can't get the girls that Bret Michaels and Vince Neil get.

So if someone likes this kind of stuff they are "less metal" I guess? Interesting theory. That sounds like something a Cannibal Corpse fanatic would come up with.

this is a really good list. I can think of a few others, but for a top 10, it is really solid

Scorpions are more arena rock, not really in the glam category.

Jason is a big time glam fan, it's so sad.
