Deftones Bassist Comes Out Of Coma

Deftones - credit Annamaria DiSanto Deftones rocker Chi Cheng is out of his coma and making the first of many steps towards recovery. The bassist was critiacally injured last November in a car accident in Santa Clara, CA. He reportedly was not wearing his seat belt at the time.

Over the weekend, Cheng's condition improved dramatically and he has since been moved out of the intensive care unit (ICU).

A post on the One Love For Chi website reads, "Hi all - just wanted to update everyone and let you know that Chi was released from ICU over the weekend and is no longer on any sort of life support. His symptoms continue to improve. So keep the prayers coming... they are obviously helping a great deal! Thanks everyone for your support and well wishes... It means so much to the Cheng family."

Awesome...hopefully the band has had a wake up call and that this horrible incident has drawn them closer. Now they can get back to writing good music instead of bitching at each other. Get well soon chi.
