The Gauntlet: 3 Inches of Blood Metal News

Joey Jordison (Slipknot) to Produce Upcoming 3 Inches of Blood Album

3 Inches of Blood The following was posted on Roadrunner Records:

Coming soon on RoadrunnerRecords.com, we'll be posting some new songs from Canada's crunch-tastic metal warlords, 3 Inches of Blood, which were produced by none other than Slipknot's Joey Jordison!

Seems that Joey is a huge fan of 3" and actually wanted to produce their Roadrunner debut, Advance and Vanquish. Not only that but he also toured with them when 3" played with Satyricon, for whom Joey was filling in on drums. A metal union was forged!

The demos are clearly a kick in the ass to anything The Blood have done to date. Thrashier, angrier and heavier than prior Blood-works - think classic Metallica, old school Kreator, and that old reliable standbye: Judas Priest's Painkiller, all rolled up into one. And, if anything, the trademark, trade-off screams, air-raid melodies and caustic catterwhauls of spectacularly bearded Viking Cam Pipes and his co-hort in vocal terrorism, Jamie Hooper, have only grown more intense.

The demos - which were recorded in Seattle and engineered by none other than one Jack Endino (the mid-wife of grunge, having recorded the likes of Nirvana and Soundgarden waaay back in the day) - also are the first recording by the 3" touring line-up of bassist Brian Redman, guitarists Shane Clarke and Justin Hagberg, and drummer Alexei Rodriguez. A pretty major change for sure, but, if anything, it's only stepped things up.

Y'want song titles? Here they are:
- "Night Marauders"
- "Goatriders' Horde"
- "Assassins of the Light"
- "Black Spire"

Joey has also signed on to produce the next 3 Inches of Blood opus, to be recorded in the early Fall. So keep your eyes and ears peeled on RoadrunnerRecords.com for the demos coming soon...

...and yes, there is cowbell.

As Nirvana's Nevermind album was breaking nationally, the group was invited to appear on MTV's Saturday night heavy metal show Headbanger's Ball. Pretending to take the show's title literally, Kurt Cobain went on the air dressed in a ruffly pink ball gown
