The Gauntlet: 10 Years Metal News

10 Years Album Update

10 Years Brian of 10 Years has posted the following album update on the MySpace page:

"Many of you have been coming to our page and saying "hmm, i wonder what the hell is up with 10 Years, no news, no new information, no updates." Well, SORRY but we have been (what feels like) face down in the dirt working on our next album. I have to say, I never thought that writing and creating a second record would be this dramatic and difficult. It's really strange when you start a band to have fun and create music for your own amusement and then all of a sudden it turns into a multi-faceted, multi-million dollar business where every single breath you take is now monitored by someone, somewhere, and for some stupid reason.

Anyway, to get to my point, we have been immersed in writing and that is as plain and simple as it gets. We are like 30-40 songs deep and pretty much feel like we don't know our heads from our asses. Honestly that's not a bad thing, I have come to find that it's actually a very normal thing. When you become so deeply involved with something it's hard to stay objective and look at it from an outsider's stand point. So I'm sure you are sitting there wondering what the next step is right? Well, it's time to find the right producer for this project. We had a production team that we originally picked to do this project but sometimes things don't work out the way you imagine them in your head 4 months earlier. Needless to say, the search has begun and we are looking far and wide for that crazy, knob-twisting madman (or mad woman) who can help catupult our career to the next level, and well, the level after that preferably.

We have songs that you people wouldn't believe. When I say that, I mean, I'm being 100% dead serious. I mean, come on, you didn't really expect us to write 40 songs that sound just like they should have been on the Autumn Effect did you!?
We have punk rock songs that will make your neck cramp from trying to do that real quick punk headbang type thing, to happy sounding poppy love songs that will make you wanna dance around in a field of really big flowers like the bee girl in the "No Rain" video from Blind Melon. I really feel pretty confident in saying that we have run the gammut of musical genres with all the material we have written. As far as what will actually make the album......WHO FREAKING KNOWS!!

Between knock down drag out fights with our management, a record company that is just simply confusing, and building tension within the band, this has truly become the most difficult and confusing time in all of our lives. But, with all that being said, we can genuinely tell you that there are TWO things that will definitely come out of this:
1. the STRONGEST 10 Years you will ever see.
2. the BEST fucking 10 Years record we can possibly make.

At this point, we haven't even picked a producer or taken a single step into a studio to record the real album, so you guys can resume your thumb twittling and we will resume our writing and meet back here at a later date.

That's it, there's the scoop. Good-bye for now. THANK YOU so much for all the love and support.

Brian"

Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi was briefly a member of Jethro Tull band in the late '60s. Although he didn't record with the band, he appeared with Tull on the Rolling Stones' aborted 1968 TV special, Rock n' Roll Circus.
