The Gauntlet: 10 Years Metal News

10 Years dominates airwaves, continues extensive touring

10 Years Republic/ Universal Records recording artists, 10 Years, scored another major coup this week with their first single, "Wasteland", becoming the number #1 song at Active Rock Radio according to Mediabase and BDS for the 8th week straight; also, narrowing in on #1 Alternative single in the country.

The song "Wasteland" is from 10 Years debut album, The Autumn Effect, (8/05) which has sold over 170,000 copies to date. And is now their newest video track; recently shot in LA with famed director Kevin Kerslake (Nirvana, Stone Temple Pilots), this documentary style video captures the band on a level of social consciousiousness with the theme focusing on social injustices around the world.

The perch at the top puts the band in the highly esteemed company of Shinedown, Disturbed, Nickelback, Staind, Seether, Mudvayne, Audioslave, Breaking Benjamin, 3 Days Grace, Green Day and Chevelle to have a # 1 song on the chart this year but none were debut singles. The last debut single to reach # 1 at the format was the song "Cold" by Crossfade in July 2004.

In other chart news, "Wasteland" is trending at #1 on the Mediabase Alternative chart. And the action doesn't stop there. This week the video for "Wasteland" can also be seen on college campuses across the country on MTV's college network, MTVU. And on the FUSE Network, the band was included in "Tower Records' Next Big Thing" show.

Hailing from Knoxville, TN, 10 Years includes Jesse Hasek, (vocals) Brian Vodinh, (Drums) Ryan "Tater" Johnson, (guitars) Matt Wantland, (guitars) and Lewis Cosby (bass). Because the band mates grew up together as friends and as musicians, they have been able to develop a truly unique sound, and an awesome live set. Fans caught 10 Years live through December with Mudvayne, Sevendust, Boboflex on the "Masters of Horror" Tour.

Now 10 Years catch up with Korn and Mudvayne for a full US tour!

10 Years hold high expectations for themselves, as they aspire to create a sound fusing two of their favorite bands, Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails. Listeners have compared their heavy, melodic sound to the likes of innovative rock acts such as The Deftones and TOOL. Both lyrically and musically, The Autumn Effect promises to be this year's breakout rock album, with their number one Active Rock single "Wasteland" leading the way.

The New Jersey punk trio Buzzkill was originally known as Butthead when they formed in 1990, but had to change their name two years later when MTV's Beavis & Butthead became a massive success. Ironically, MTV also had a grunge/alt-metal show called Buzzkill, which aired during the mid-'90s.
