Top 10 Heavy Metal Movies

#10 Decline of Western Civilization Part 2: The Metal Years

This one is last on the list because it’s actually quite depressing. It is the documentary with the famous scenes of Chris Holmes chugging vodka in the pool and Ozzy spilling orange juice all over the place.

#9 Some Kind of Monster

I wanted to list this as the “least metal” movie of all-time, but Jason insisted that we include it in this list, as having the balls to do group therapy on film is pretty metal.

#8 Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King

How many power metal bands have taken at least some influence from the Lord of the Rings saga? Most notable, of course, is Blind Guardian.

#7 Detroit Rock City

A movie about teenagers traveling to a KISS concert. Very funny and very metal.

#6 Heavy Metal in Baghdad

A riveting look at the sole metal band in the worn torn Iraq.

#5 Wayne's World

What metalheads didn’t want to hang out with Wayne and Garth when this movie came out?

#4 Trick or Treat

A must-see for metal fans. It is a metal-themed horror movie featuring cameos by none other than Ozzy Osbourne and Gene Simmons.

#3 Metal: A Headbanger’s Journey

The best serious documentary of heavy metal ever made. Sam Dunn delves deep into many sectors of the metal world, including the infamous Norwegian black metal scene.

#2 This is Spinal Tap

A mockumentary that hits very close to home. It is genuinely funny all the way through, and does a great job of poking fun at the ridiculous aspects of the music we love.

#1 Heavy Metal Parking Lot

The myth, the legend. “Heavy Metal Parking Lot” exposed metal fans in their most belligerent state before a Judas Priest concert in Landover, MD. It never gets old. "I'd jump his bones" See scene below:

what about heavy metal and heavy metal 2000? metallica has been warped into a corporate rock band since the 90s and wayne's world i wouldnt even remotely call a metal movie. what a load of psychodramatic crap while dave mustaine whines to lars about not being the top dog, that guy maybe very good at what he does, but its no secret that mustaine got canned out of metallica for having that jekyl and hyde complex when he drank, in which made him be a very awful person to deal with. he also has made very good money with megadeth, but pissed thousands upon thousands of dollars on cocaine and heroin. dave has reached levels of popularity that so many out there are literaly struggling their asses off to get and so many will never get and here hes so upset about that? they had enough of his abusive drunken behavior that dave himself even admited to and had to get rid of him. this was back when they were doing the club circuit and had no idea later down the road that they would be this huge world known band. the young incarnation of metallica had to protect themselves and get rid of a problem that could cause a breakup. anyhow, i have deliberately not bought anything metallica related since february of 1993 because they simply just stink and the group therapy thing to go figure out the rights and wrongs within a band is just plain retarded.
