Doom and Punk are both driving down opposite sides of the freeway one blustery, raining summer evening. Punk, the chaos loving speed freak that he is, has the throttle pushed to the floor, zipping along at 140 MPH, hungry for a bit of the ol' ultra-violence in his beat up sports car. In the meantime, Doom is chugging along at a lumbering pace, steadily moving his straight truck packed with caskets through the darkness. Doom is required to drive a bit slower than most other drivers of course; he's carrying an extremely heavy load. With Punk being quite the lazy sod, he just doesn't put too much attention into maintaining his ride. Unfortunately, it would be just Punk's luck that both of his headlights suddenly burn out just as Doom approaches. Alas, Punk can't see a thing as his speeding car smashes directly into Doom's big mutha of a truck head on with full force. That's exactly what you will get from the latest record from Debris Inc. This project, masterminded by former Trouble bassist Ron Holzner and Dave Chandler of Saint Vitus. Featuring 17 tracks of drug related, fucked up, raucous jams that will paste you to the wall, the debut from Debris Inc. is about as raw and real as it gets. These vets show the youngsters just how Stoner Rock is done on 'The Old Man And His Bong.' This track is a massive 'hit' that you won't be hearing on the commercial radio stations and that's just the way it ought to be, because jams this like this are just too damn cool to venture from the underground. Blasts of old school fury like 'Shut Up' and 'I Feel Like Shit Again' resonate with a feeling that hasn't been captured on a recording in too damn long. On 'Fucking Mess', Debris Inc. groove with a Dwarves style while Holzner walks all over the place with a tasty bassline. For a big fat middle finger in the face of the status quo, check out 'The Ballad Of Debris' and there's no doubt that the group's cover of Fear's classic 'I Love Livin' In The City' is the most abrasive and out of control version of this kick ass punk anthem ever (sorry Billy Milano. You rule. You really do!) Screw the witty analogies and ass kissing and just buy this damn record already!
R.I.P. Barry Stern – You are loved and will be missed.
