Here, we find a more focused effort from the prominent UK act Beecher, a band that assemble albums in a rather speedy fashion, this being the band's second release on the Earache imprint this year. Recorded under the watch for spazz-metal guru Kurt Ballou, 'This Elegy His Autopsy' finds Beecher to be leaner, meaner and out for the kill with neck-breaking cuts such as the driving 'It's Good Weather For Black Leather' and the pure sonic barrage of 'Function! Function!'
Following an the industrial strength interlude, 'The Womanizer And The Alcoholic', Beecher burst into 'Knight The Arsonist', finding the group willfully expanding their sonic borders and at the same time issuing a ravaging onslaught that is slightly similar to Ballou's band Converge.
UK bands often come up with some outlandish song titles and Beecher is no exception. But don't let the moniker of '…And On The Day He Became A Human Plumb Line' fool you, this track is highly focused and one of the more mature offerings the band has managed to date.
Having come a long way since their days as a member of the roster of In At The Deep End Records. Today, fans can expect nothing less than a dedication to creating the utmost in intense, skilled songwriting from this batch of blokes, as evidenced in tracks like 'Psycho Galvanic Skin Response' and 'I Won't Miss, Or Be Missed.'
From furious blasts to stream of consciousness interludes, Beecher has evolved into one of the preeminent bands that is carrying metal into the new millennium. Be forewarned, this album is not to be taken lightly in any fashion whatsoever.
