Ultra massive Motorhead influenced stoner metal driven through a meat grinder results in large scale tonnage on this record. 'Blessed Black Wings' surpasses the group's first full length in terms of sheer battery, but contains enough variation to hold fan's interest. At times the band strikes like a hammer to an anvil while others, it blasts into the stratosphere. If you are expecting a sound similar to Matt Pike's former ensemble, Sleep, then you might hear slight overtones of their legendary sound, but it is the spirit that Pike has brought with him that subconsciously motivates the effort, all the while the rhythm section of this three piece act really let things loose, kicking up the vibe and the sludgy tempo. This album is heavier than a volcano eruption, spouting deadly sonic lava and shaking the very ground with a tremendous power.
