Welcome to power groove city! With this record, Cannae thrash, smash and bash their way through ten tumultuous tracks of overtly aggressive sounds that will have your ears ringing like a Louisville Slugger catching up with the back of your neck to talk about old times. From the first note, Cannae erupt in a festival of bludgeoning rhythms, spine-shaking beats and extra strength aggro that will have you begging for more.

Elements of several extreme metal styles creep into the meat of the matter, yet Cannae at all times remain a focused killing machine as they plow through savagely intense cuts like opener 'Rats, Snakes, And Theives' and the growling sledgehammer attack of 'Indemnity.' Ferocious double kick bashing ensues in hefty portions as the band rip through vicious outbursts, keeping the measure of viscosity running high and the aural environment severe. 'Marked By Monuments' is itself, marked by a perturbed, skullcrushing riff that's certain to connect like a left hook from out of nowhere. The sudden blast of sonic violence might be enough to put you in shock, but if you're tough enough, you'll stick your chin out for a few more punches.

Well written lyrics make give Cannae's songs a further degree of brutish credibility, as Adam DuLong stands tall and unyielding in delivering messages that carry an ominously impacting weight. By the time you're hit with the brief, warmly acoustic reprieve of 'Collapse' you will be caught totally unaware when the destructive blast strikes you like a speeding death train of vehement anguish. Cannae are tough as nails, of this there can be no doubt and those who like things the hard way will no doubt delight in repeatedly going round and round with this heavy duty offering of gargantuan grooving.

While recording Smashing Pumpkins' "Crush," producer Butch Vig told Billy Corgan he'd have to take off his jewellery for the guitar solo. Instead he kept it on, and the percussive effect audible in the background is the jewelry playing loosely in time with Billy's wrist as he strums.
