  • Hands down one of the most impressive hardcore albums Victory Records has released in quite some time, 'Wake The Dead' is chock full of everything that's great about a hardcore record. Anthemic choruses, stadium sized gang vocals, instantly moshable riffing and the centerpiece of the record, the urgent and commanding vocals of Scott Wade. His vocal performance really makes the record sound unique. Comeback Kid have an edge that many of their hardcore peers lack and their upbeat circle pit inciting rhythms leave the competition in the dust.

CBK fire on all cylinders throughout the album, especially on the incredibly catchy anthem 'Wake The Dead'. This is a track that lives up to the hype. A tune that is at once powerful and driving, you'll be singing right along by the second chorus, electrified by the sheer intensity of the group's vociferous outbursts. 'My Other Side' is a straight ahead slamfest, while 'The Trouble I Love' delivers some abrasive, fist pumping HC that will no doubt have fans singing along en masse.

The group's guitarists, Andrew Neufeld and Jeremy Hiebert play off of each other well, utilizing octave jumping licks to bring out that pure core sound, while at the same time injecting a shot of melody into the group's forceful 'Bright Lights Keep Shining' which has a great gang vocal near the end that seems like Biohazard times ten.

'Falling Apart' is a track that features a great rhythm before ripping into absolute chaos, then turning into a polyrhythmic breakdown. The record closes with a thrashy anthem called 'Final Goodbye' that leaves the listener ready to bounce off of the walls, primed for more slamming sonic mayhem.

Easily one of the best hardcore efforts to spin in the drive in a very long time, Comeback Kid have delivered a virtual sucker punch to the jaw of the hardcore scene with 'Wake The Dead'. A compelling effort throughout, this album is ultimately an instant HC classic that is a without a doubt, a must own. Start digging…
