'In Love With The End' finds Born From Pain sticking more to the hardcore side of metalcore than the group did on their debut 'Sands Of Time'. This should be considered n improvement as their overall sound is now more focused and ultimately, more entertaining than on that lackluster effort. You can hear a lot of influence from Biohazard on this disc on tracks like 'Judgement' and 'Renewal' as the band opts for a purer sound that is focused on pit riffs, chanting vocals and tight, snappy beats. When listening to 'The New Hate', you can hear a touch of Slayer in the speedier riff, while the chorus and breaks and designed for massive pit assemblage. 'Rise Or Die' features a razor edged riff that is an instant banger. One aspect which is very noticeable is the high production quality on this record. Tue Madsen did an outstanding job or capturing the sound of the band. The mix is dead on and the guitars sound super sharp. If anything, it is the production that determines the overall genre certain types of bands are put in and here you have edgy hardcore with a distinct metal sound to the guitars that is overwhelmingly effective. After hearing the somewhat muddled production job on the last record, the work here makes all the difference in bringing out the best in Born From Pain. Che, the band's vocalist, attacks the microphone with a savage aggression on 'Dead Code', which features a really doomy chorus section that is a great compliment to the vocalist's gruff barks. 'In Love With The End' is a pissed off monster of an album that will suit fans of Hatebreed, Terror and Biohazard just fine and ultimately shows Born From Pain for what they really are, one ass kicking hardcore ensemble that takes no prisoners and dishes out plenty of aural destruction.
