As always, Dead To Fall know good album art which draws the eyes attention, but aesthetics can't be assumed to live up to musical standards. "The Phoenix Throne" marks the band's third full length release and they still hold tight to their "Metalcore" mass Swedish riff rip off style, a style which worked only on their first disc.
This new effort doesn't steal as much but instead gets even more typical. At least when they were lifting parts from others they potentially made the songs better, now it's just a band that has no originality left. But hell, many get away with that. Sure, you get your vain breakdowns and your angst lyrics which contribute to blatant predictability. Dead to Fall is just another metalcore act proven full on "The Phoenix Throne", and if you didn't already feel that way with "Villainy and Virtue" then it's time to retrospect.
Dead To Fall has nowhere else to go with their music. They should've reconsidered after "Everything I Touch Falls To Pieces". This new one has the band running in circles, and the sour moanings on the disc can be related to your usual "boo hoo". At least the album art is cool.
