Cover albums, a waste of time? Or interesting journeys into a band's beginnings as to what influenced them and what they probably played before writing original material. With that said the decision is yours, as the decision was there's to actually record an album of tracks that the title suggests were band's that have all amalgamated to form their style of playing. 'The Anatomy Of…' is at times very fun and other times unfortunate and regardless of that BTBAM did the covers their own way instead of trying to completely mimic the originals. So now let's take a run through the band's musical roots.

Some of the fans of Between The Buried And Me might be saying 'What the fuck? Queen?!' but you should not be surprised that they have covered one of the greatest Queen songs ever written nor be surprised that it's actually one of the best covers on this disc! Giles knew exactly what he was doing when he belted out those infamous lines, the desire to ride that bicycle performed to a T. You should however be somewhat surprised they covered the Counting Crows and didn't really spark any interest in the cover or the band they covered. Meanwhile the more metal covers of the album such as Metallica's 'Blackened' and Motley Crue's 'Kickstart My Heart' and 'Cemetery Gates' by, well you know who, were done with great precision. The cover of 'The Day I Tried To Live' could've been with more of Giles' finely tuned melodic vocals but he didn't seem to have it that way so that cover ended up a little awry. The infamous 'Malpractice' by Faith No More is always a fun one and an easy one which BTBAM did a damn fine job of because how can you fuck that one up? And don't forget the cover of Sepultura's classic "Territory".

The slower tracks on the album such as Depeche Mode's 'Little 15' and Blind Melon's 'Change' are also done very well (and once again should not be a surprise track to you fans). Their Smashing Pumpkins cover is less admirable because well, it was done by the Samshing Pumpkins. Their King Crimson cover was a bold move that they pulled off well. In all, the album might not really be worth the dough, regardless, all the tracks are an interesting take and conjure much enjoyment if you are well rounded in musical taste as Between The Buried And Me seem to be.
