When I first opened up this package, I was like "Wow, how cool. Dimmu re-release of Stormblast digitally remastered." No, re-recorded. Yes, the entire thing. And boy is it garbage.

Here is a comparison. See, when someone had never heard black metal before, I usually would toss in the first track of Stormblast. That beautiful keyboard intro that would intiate mnost anyone -- gone. replaced with twenty crappy, ultra-digital seconds of demonic growling more suited for the in-between passage of tracks in L.D. 50 or Iowa.

The guitar build up after? Digital sounding. The scream payoff? No crazy soul-piercing echo, just limp and dead after the first ring. That excellent mystical Lord of the Rings keyboard sound? Gone as well as the equalizing dynamics. That badass Master of Puppets guitar texture over the galloping? Gone. Now it just sounds generic and over-processed like Puritanical Misanthropia. You can see where I'm going.

Everything that made Stormblast special and an all around staple of the black metal genre has been removed. Fucking garbage. Why would they even bother?

Kinda a weak review. I haven't heard the album, but this review is just piss poor. It doesn't make me want or not want to buy it.

Green Jello was the original name for '90s goof metal band Green Jelly, but the group was forced to change its name when the Jell-O company voiced displeasure and threatened a lawsuit.
