Mastodon is here to put your fears of their moving to big label to rest, and if you ever doubted them, you will beg for forgiveness once you hear 'Blood Mountain.

"Blood Mountain", though leaked, once heard in its proper form will blow your mind. If anyone has ever wondered who influenced these guys it's very clear on this new album. Mastodon has taken from all sides of the musical spectrum with this one and will be a power to recon with for years to come, if that wasn't already apparent on "Leviathan".

This is one of those albums that goes all over the place, not just in ways of musicianship but in ways of song ability and how they can easily keep you wide eyed throughout the whole disc. This album is like "Remission", "Leviathan", and the "Lifesblood" EP rolled into one sweet Philly with some extra surprises in every track. Craziness all around, Mastodon have pulled out all the stops and already make speculation of how they will out do themselves on their next album arise. Instrumentally, the band is unstoppable, the drums are always moving, and drummers will know what I mean by this one. Countless riffs and extravagant techincality flood this album for an ear's delight. This is an album that takes hold the concept of dynamics, ingenuity, experimentation, and imaginative adventure of imagery.

You will have alot of trouble picking out favorites on "Blood Mountain" so count on the long haul every time you spin it. Do not just listen to this album nonchalantly, engage in it because it requires 100% of your attention. There is alot going on, so much that you will need a few listens, a few dozen. Do yourself a favor and unhinge your jaw before listening to "Blood Mountain" so that you don't break it when it falls from your face.
