Although Bobaflex showed that they could kick some serious ass on their 'Primitive Epic' record, 'Apologize For Nothing' fully blows it out of the water. Unequivocally. The well thought album title says it all. Baby, these boys from West Virginia apologize for nothing.

Determined to blast through the boundaries of conventional heavy metal, Bobaflex offer up a cornucopia of aural textures on their major league debut, 'Apologize For Nothing.' These five anti-heroes can't be stylistically compared to any other artist, with their intense, patently obvious originality boiling beneath the surface of each and every song on this groundbreaking album. Larger than life personalities shine through all of the varied approaches the band employs on this album; from the moody World War II epic 'Guns A Blazing' to the relentless stomp of the brash, burly opener 'Six Feet Underground', this prolific assemblage of highly creative artists prove that they have exactly what it takes to push metal to a new level.

'Apologize For Nothing' imparts the same feeling that an album like 'Appetite For Destruction' provided, giving the listener the feeling that they are hearing something new, yet at once, strangely familiar. This is the type of emotion that cannot be manufactured, planned out or imitated. The music of Bobaflex ultimately succeeds because it possesses that genuine spark of energy that is necessary in order for a group to rise head and shoulders above trends and fashion. One listen to the mechanized, yet bizarrely flowing 'Bright Red Violent Sex' proves that Bobaflex are a singular entity in today's scene.

You can't deny the bands imagination as they plow through tracks like 'G.U.T.' and 'The Guardian', but it is the viciously executed 'Better Than Me' that shows the band throwing it down at their no-holds-barred best. Shaun McCoy has an unreal presence as he croons through 'Family' as the singer's bizarre lyrics, which would seem out of place in a standard, cookie-cutter track, fit both the sound and the band's persona as well.

These guys have a sound that is truly all their own and if you read reports of this band being Nu Metal, dismiss that immediately. This is one of the most ass-kicking records of the year, and Bobaflex are a band that has the balls to back it up on tour. You have to be pretty cool to own such a great fucking record.

when i went to go see sevendust and mudvayne, i was thinking that i could be LATE to go see the show (since bobaflex was 1st) and everything would be ok. i was wrong... i was on time and very glad. bobaflex was one of the best live bands i've ever seen. all of their songs were very original and so was their act. the lead guitar player was awesome... and unique. i agree with dustin up there... bobaflex is no good recorded... you have to see them live to truely appreciate them.

And to boot, since they've been touring w/ Sevendust over the last year or so, I've had the chance to see them play about 7 times or so, plus on the Gigantour and some of their headlining dates...they've really added a lot to their stage performance and have incessant and inspiring energy, and have had really good vibes with all crowds they have played for. I'm real happy for them - it couldn't have happened to a better group of guys...

Yeah, I'd have to agree, I dont think I'll ever like Bobaflex recorded that much because the first time I heard them, it was live. Still awesome though.

This CD does them no justice at all. Granted, oh hell of a CD, but there live performance is so much better. Buy the CD, and love it, see them live, and be blown away !

Seattle supergroup Mad Season planned on issuing a follow-up album to its 1995 debut, Above, without singer Layne Staley. For reasons unknown, the sophomore effort never materialized.
