Six Feet Under keeps trucking, whether that track is about to break down completely yet is up to you but it is showing some wear and tear. When it comes to the approach that Six Feet Under takes to death metal it was only a matter a time that the material would turn monotonous.
As a past SFU fan I can't help to enjoy a track or two on every new album that comes out. There was a time when every album held many upon many excellent death metal beauties, but I believe the streak ended after Bringer of Blood. With "Commandment" you get another dose of their last album "13" but just with a little more gusto. It's the usual content manner regarding the lyrics and the riffs are all blending now in that same ol' mid tempo pace. This album was also produced by Chris Barnes, about time the man got behind the board; I thought he would be controlling that end of the ship awhile ago given his music career. I must say he did a decent job, much better than the production on "13".
This band has managed to pick up the pace with this album as oppose to the last, there is much more to sink your teeth into on "Commandment" and gives you that "Warpath" / "Maximum Violence" feel again. Overall it is another SFU which has a few gems on it but not as consistent as previous releases.
