Those who follow metal phenomenon Lamb Of God are entirely rabid in their devotion to the group, and 'Killadelphia' should more than satisfy their hunger for the massive metal machine. This DVD contains scads of footage on the prominent act, with the centerpiece of the entire affair being an extremely well-shot headlining performance filmed at The Troradero in Philadelphia, PA in October of 2004. Fans will witness fifteen of the band's most powerful tracks, including stellar performances of 'As The Palaces Burn', 'Pariah' and 'Now You've Got Something To Die For', as Lamb rip through the set like they're possessed, giving both the concert and home audiences their all on each and every track.
Lamb Of God are visually intense without resorting to theatrics, their presence being substantial enough to impress upon the most jaded of metal devotees. When vocalist Randy Blythe takes occasion to sing from the pit, and manages to do so with his signature manner of authority, it makes the experience all the more inspiring. 'Killadelphia' also succeds in that it gives the fans a very up close and personal look at the group as well. A plethora of behind-the-scenes footage exposes the humanity present behind the group, offering revelations behind the relationships between the group's members, and yes, Randy gets his ass kicked pretty thoroughly during one segment.
One of the most interesting aspects of the production is the inclusion of 'Soundcheck' segments, where the band offer up a few tips on gear and playing LOG tunes. Those seeking to consume info about the group will welcome the highly in-depth interviews that are entertaining and extremely revealing (the band's crew even gets in on the action), various assorted outtakes, band and director commentary and three of the band's music videos. In a nutshell, this collection is more than comprehensive. The three included Easter Eggs are worth the time it takes to find them as well. Most of all, the band are portrayed on this video like real people. Absent of any stereotypical image doctoring, the fan is allowed to get a true glimpse of the members of Lamb Of God as people. By taking this approach, it is quite likely that fans will be inclined to be even more loyal than ever before in knowing that their heroes are people too.
Few metal artists offer up such a personal take on the group as you'll see here, but even if you're not interested in the sideshow material on the video, the band's blistering concert performance is more than worth the price of admission.
