'The Empires Of The Worlds' is a record that's nothing short of amazing. Biomechanical have really put it all together with this release, combining meaty grooves, emboldened harmonic structures, varied vocal acrobatics that range from stratosphere reaching, soaring highs to low, Phil Anselmo style growls and most of all intensely masterful songwriting that displays an acute ear for dynamics. Biomechanical actually are the complete metal package, bringing forth more razor sharp metal riffs and driving, slamming metal rhythms in one track than most groups can deliver on an entire record. Vocalist Jon K is extremely talented, employing varied techniques and showing that he is a quite masterful at giving each song exactly the vibe it needs in order to provide the listener with a powerful metal experience. Although you can hear influences in the bands music, at the end of the day this group has combined those influences into a sound that is their own. 'Assaulter' is a screaming, driving track that shows a forceful aggressiveness while leadoff cut 'Enemy Within' highlights the group's ability to bring unique twist to things, highlighted by symphonic hits and a captivating energy that seethes through each note with an assertive fury. You'll find Jon K's vocals to be the centerpiece of the moody and melodic 'Long Time Dead', a cut which brings to light the progressive nature of the group, perhaps more so than on any other cut. The record closes with a show stopping, four part opus entitled 'Absolution' that features dramatic instrumentation, compelling symphonic arrangements and impassioned vocals that put Geoff Tate to shame. Make way for the next wave of British heavy metal and be forewarned that Biomechanical are leading the charge to metal glory! 'The Empires Of The Worlds' is a metal album that unequivocally, positively must not be missed.
