'Pictures From The Hotel Apocalypse', great name, but does it live up to the theme that they present? The music sure does, and I was expecting some awesome photos from the Hotel Apocalypse in the liners. There are indeed numerous photos on the liners from the infamous hotel but they are clearly trying to hard to be profound in some artistic way that relies on ridiculousness. So I close the photo album and just concentrate on Since By Man's excellent ability to create some fine screamo that resembles old Glassjaw to a T, but in a good way.

The band's new full length is what any fan of this band expects, you get the abrasive, the melodic, the screams, the whines, the bleeding and healing, the hatred and passion all in one disc. Their sound might resemble too closely that of Glassjaw and Every Time I Die but they have definitely found their niche in the ways of expansive screamo that blends that original emo and erratic screamo that takes song writing to a better level.

The one fault of this band is its excessive amount of metaphorical use it tries to convey through ways of corny lyrics which some take to be great and others see through the absurdity. Put in the context that it is in, these absurdities tend to fit well just as long as you don't take it all too seriously. Their music is as strong as ever, the hooks and little grooves are thrown every which way in between the dissonance and zig-zagged vocal patterns making 'Pictures From The Hotel Apocalypse' another powerful play. (Here comes the fun album title play on words conclusion) So check yourself into the Hotel Apocalypse, a hotel that makes the Overlook look like a children's' book.
