It's been years since black metal was actually terrifying, and thankfully, "The Extra Dimensional Wound", takes a mystical journey through terror and decimation. Lightning Swords of Death evoke unforgiving torture and terror with every note. This feedback laden necro-death machine is welded together by black metal and death metal, perverted into it's own twisted interpretation. Autarch's vocals sound like agony, echoing into the abyss behind Roskva's Swedish style death metal guitar-tones. "Invoke the Desolate One" is a masterpiece of melody and nightmare, and brilliantly displays LSOD's ability to noodle between black and death metal styles, while keeping the nightmare reverberating and screaming in the way that only a truly terrifying black metal band can do. "Zwartgallig" gives the album a two-minute break for atmosphere before all head-bangers will be appeased with "Damnation Pentrastrike". Yet another example of LSOD's ability to take classic elements of metal and put their fecal matter all over it, cover it in blood, shove it in your face like a weapon. They're style is especially violent, but with a simultaneous mind blast. Autarch's words seem to come from another place, ethereal and disturbing. "Nihilistic Stench's" double bass and blackened thrash, rips and shreds the flesh, until finally, "Path to Chaos" gives the true sense of how much potential LSOD has with creating atmosphere, great song writing, but most importantly, terror.
