311's ninth studio album, "Uplifter," brings together many positive lyrics, great melodic singing, and 311's signature sound that all fans are familiar with. As the band reaches this milestone in their career, who better to call then Bob Rock? To hear the influences with Bob Rock's production with 311 is quite difficult, as 311 have always sounded like a groovy pot-party. But whatever he did works, as this album uses ambiance and alternative groovy rock to hold together quality, production, and sound in this album. If you're looking for something new to be brought to the table, an evolution perhaps, look elsewhere. Fans can expect exactly what 311 have been about their entire career. Nothing more to add and nothing less then what they have always been doing. This is a solid groovy rock album that doesn't quite push the envelope, but doesn't fall on its back either.
