Ruiner is another band that gives the whole hardcore thing a shot, as they have been. With their latest release of Bridge Nine, the band so boldly named their album "Prepare to be Let Down". The album cover is some guys hanging from a tree so one could ask: Is the listener preparing to be let down or the guys hanging from the tree? Despite any confusion one might have, Ruiner let you down pretty damn hard with their new album. Hardcore is a genre that has a very strict fan base and the proof lies with Ruiner. Any person who isn't a fan of hardcore would take one listen to this and probably shrug it off or have a harsh opinion. A fan of hardcore can listen to an album like this and at least say "It's alright". Scary, but that's the way the world of hardcore works. The array is so similar in color yet fans of the category will be able to tell them apart and furthermore, enjoy it. There is well played hardcore then there are bands that just play hardcore because it's there and it can easily be played. It's another case of the passion being there but the effort not delivering, you must have both. The seedy guitar riffs actually overwhelm the disc in ways of production and the songs as a whole are loosely put together. it must have taken them all of two weeks to record and mix this album, and this is not to say great production makes a band better (Hatebreed), because it doesn't (Hatebreed). The point is Ruiner are one of many bands that is an act full of music lovers that attempted to make something out of what they love but it didn't come out all that well.
