She Killed Poetry on first listen will probably be given the "metalcore" label but don't be quick to judge. With more of a death metal influence, She Killed Poetry take the more aggressive aspects of hardcore and combines them with the heaviness of death metal. The outcome is a very heavy and brutal release from these Texas natives.
"Shut Out The Silence" is a strong debut effort that will have many listeners of metal and death metal subcoming to their will. Well rounded in the riff category, the band has a good sense of song writing. You'll get a nice dose of kick in the face metal and then to top it off the band will go into a pounding breakdown which does not at all resemble that of the dead horse beaten breakdowns you will find in the typical "metalcore" bullshit out there.
It will be interesting to see how the next release from this band fairs. While this debut full length is a solid first step, the band has plenty of potential to reach.
