I think this is Sevendust's 6th album? 6? Really? Christ, I really thought this band was going to die along with Spineshank and all that other nonsense but it just goes to show you what a lack of music development will do for bands. The only reason I'm giving this band a 2 is because they made it this far and that deserves a golf clap, not by me though.

"Alpha" is another slab of extreme mediocrity thrown in your face and guess what? You like it, don't lie, you do and you are only feeding the beast, the beast of a sad state of affairs. I can only imagine some bro dude working out to this band thinking "Damn this is so heavy dude!". I know, frightening. I find it pretty amazing that a band can go this far without re-hauling its sound to any extreme degree. I'm sure they will tell you different but with a listen to "Alpha" you will see that if you heard one Sevendust album you heard them all. A band that has a best of album for all of their great classics set in stone.

Any band this young (yes young) that has a greatest hits album already means that they have that ONE song or, maybe even TWO that got on the radio and that means they have enough songs that made it to radio to make a hits collection. This also means that a person is better off buying that hits album due to the fact that every song on any given Sevendust album besides that radio single is not even worth trying to listen to, or maybe that's where the gold is? Either way, both notions are hilarious to consider.

But back to "Alpha" I really hope this is the band still not trying to make music, because they could fool anyone and they have been.

Black Sabbath’s original name was Earth, but was changed since they kept getting confused with another British band of the same name.
