When I Farm released “So My Kids Don’t Have To” the band knew exactly how to create some fun frenzied short attention spanned songs that invoke the best circle pits.

Whether or not it was necessary for this album to be re-issued, whether or not it was a label decision to push units, can be argued later but now is the time to enjoy well made punk rotten hardcore. The bio on their label’s site says “the biggest band you’ve never heard of yet” might be pushing it but if this band was to be that big it would take away from who they are. The ones who know of this band know them well.

Released in 97’ the album features new artwork which I guess is cool but whatever, the album was remastered which just brings out a louder sound rather than a better one making it that much more enjoyable. But, for those of who enjoy the older hardcore, the sound quality shouldn’t matter much, the more raw it is usually points to a better sound in the context of this music, the way it should be heard; dirty and pissed.

This band is that fine median that melds hardcore and punk attitude, lyrics, sound, and all things associated with the rugged genres and doing so they appealed to the many. This is sort of a hold over until their next full length release but in the meantime it’s good to go back. “So My Kids Don’t Have To” should be sought out by anyone who hasn’t heard of this band or the beginner discovering new bands, this one exemplifies the true modern day hardcore punk band.
