The enigmatic, certifiably insane, former lead vocalist of Black Sabbath makes his solo debut here on 'Blizzard Of Ozz', an album which reaches god-like proportions, establishing the tattooed, perpetually wasted frontman as a metal icon in his own right and introducing to the world to talented axe-slinger and future Legend Randy Rhoads (Quiet Riot). Half of this record could be considered to be well known to even the most casual of listeners, having dominated the airwaves for almost twenty-five years.

The trademark riff of 'Crazy Train' re-ignited a stagnant heavy metal scene single-handedly, with no guitarist that has performed with Osbourne throughout his illustrious career being able to perfectly replicate the blazing fretwork of Rhoads with such a precise effectiveness. Being the record that would open the floodgates for a plethora of substantial eighties metal acts, 'Blizzard Of Ozz' remains dear to fans' hearts, and for good reason, as it is the single-most unpretentious album of the Prince Of Darkness' recording history.

The quintessential metal ballad, 'Goodbye To Romance' literally drips with heartfelt sincerity, with a reassuring sensation that would simply be impossible on any Sabbath album. Another long-time radio staple, the upbeat, driving 'I Don't Know' displays a bold sensibility that is primed for arena action, while 'Suicide Solution' would live in infamy due to uneducated assumptions as to its subject matter.

Amazingly, the cut 'Mr. Crowley', with its omnipresent, highly memorable keyboard line enjoys airplay right up to this very day. Written about the highly eccentric Illuminati adept Allister Crowley, this downright haunting track is one of the most memorable songs in rock radio history. Quite simply, no record collection should lack this magnum opus of metal. 'Blizzard Of Ozz' is the album that will ensure that Ozzy Osbourne is well remembered for the next fifty years and then some, making it an extremely mandatory effort indeed.
