An individual in a suit holding a wine glass filled with nails makes for an excellent visual representation of what Nonpoint is all about. In combining a unique mixture grace and aggression, the band have a sound that's all their own and the chops to back it up.

Elias and the boys get sideways on the gritty bitchslap 'Bullet With A Name.' Yeah, Nonpoint crank up the slam-dancehall thump a bit, making it quite likely that these tracks will be a lot of fun for the fans to sing along with when the band hits their town. Memorability is also a factor and as Elias repeats the track's chorus in true Zach de la Rocha fashion, the song's hook is literally hammered into your memory. 'There's Gonna Be A War' highlights pissed-off stimulation with a singular twist. Overall the band's focus is on being very upfront and in-your-face, a notion which should suit fans nicely. Even as the band takes on thrashy rhythms, Elias' voice dominates the field with fast-paced rhymes and potent vocal envelopes that are fueled by jaded angst. The Wreckoning' makes for a perfect example as to what type of a musical beating Nonpoint can hand out. Containing as much aggression as you're likely to find with such an accessible ensemble, the band tears through this one with an unremorseful vengeance.

Through tracks such as 'Alive And Kicking' and 'Explain Yourself', the band show that melody is a key part of their attack, especially in the way that the vocal lines deviate from the riff melodies. Layered patterns create a vibe that retains a degree of weightiness, but leaves room for exploration. 'Explain Myself' finds the group branching out into a sprawling bridge, enhanced by an almost Everlast-style rap by Elias. This is a great example of the work that nonpoint has put forth to ignore boundaries while still managing to offer a focused approach.

Fans of Linkin Park and Suicidal Tendencies should like this record equally the same. Nonpoint is adventurous enough to hold your attention for the length of the record, a fact that cannot be stated for some of their peers. Check it out.
