Bursting out of the UK with a mop-flailing vengeance, this very demo landed Evile a contract with Earache Records that is so fresh, the blood hasn't even dried yet.
Equipped with plenty of energy and a predominantly aggressive sound, these blokes are making a go at resurrecting moshtastic anti-melodies in an appropriately old school fashion. Is true thrash metal making a comeback? Conventional wisdom says yes, and the Testament/Nuclear Assault-flavored bombardment of Evile cuts like “Enter The Grave” and “Death Sentence” harken back to the days of skanking and moshing as opposed to kung-fu shadow boxing and sneaker watching.
Many headbangers out there will welcome such a resurgence with open arms and for good reason – it's high time that extreme metal rediscovered its roots and delivered the type of incendiary leads, bone-crushing riffs and actual singing displayed here. Labels are becoming hip to the idea that this style hasn't truly run it's course and Evile is a band that's poised to push to the forefront of the thrash metal revival.
All in all, this is a good taste of what we can expect from these guys in the future and a very capable starting point, indeed. Catch these sounds while you can, "Hell" being one demo that could gain collector's item status after Earache unleashes the group's debut album.
