The Destro come forth with its debut album "As the Coil Unwinds". Many of you who are aware of this band probably saw them on tour with another band of the same likeness in sound, and this shouldn't surprise you. The Destro play that common blend of recycled material that sees the album going nowhere fast with overused metallic riffs.

There really isn't much to say about this band or the many that have been sprouting up for what seems overnight. There's not much further heavy music can go these days in the realm of just being "heavy". Instead, a serious injection of outside-the-box creativity must emerge if bands like The Destro and many MANY others are to succeed. You know the type of band I am talking about already, that is, the band that clearly has the ability but squanders perceivable prospective accumulations in unique sound for something you can hear from just about any other band these days.

"As The Coil Unwinds" like many albums, has its moments but they are few and far in between and you can't help but feel this sense of let down whenever you hear another band that adheres to such a formula that when heard, brings about an anguish regarding the current state of heavy music. In all The Destro are some fellas that have that musical know how and they know what they like and nothing is going to change that, but change is really what is needed if they and a million other bands of the same ilk are to open up other worlds for themselves and others.
