The first time I heard Emmure I thought instantly of Acacia Strain and maybe that's why people enjoy them (Acacia Strain that is). Emmure carries that same very bottom heavy mosh-at-any-moment sound that excites dancers but doesn't do much for the ears. You will find all this, in frequent repetition on their Victory Records debut "Goodbye To The Gallows".
Their bio says they set out to be one of the heaviest bands, well they accomplished the heavy part but they don't do a hell of alot with it. Things do speed up here and there but only to give way to breakdowns with dissonant twangs tossed around, classic. This will definitely tickle the fancy of people, as they flock to the simplicity of the band's frequent use of breakdowns. I'll give them credit though; this is some seriously pissed music which makes sense as the band also said they set out to be the most emotionally driven act. Sometimes that pissed off tone shows itself in very catchy moments in particular songs. The use of various abrasive vocal styles is present as well which I personally can never get enough of which is another reason I find this band somewhat digestible.
Essentially you are getting mosh core that can also be heard in other such lack luster bands as On Broken Wings and did I mention The Acacia Strain? So if you like your music with mosh and, more mosh then "Goodbye To The Gallows" is for you.
