This is probably my favorite Jesu release of the past three and it goes to show that Broadrick can do alot with this band though it may seem the same release is happening to most who listen. "Conqueror" the second full length and third release from Justin Broadrick's creation is one that switches tones on the listener showing one that the man can be brighter when he wants to be as oppose to his momentary dismal works.
Everyone knows who he is, for those of you who don't this is another one of those "research if you really care about music before you conjure preconception" type deals. Broadrick has plenty of good time on his hands to create the twisting works of sound exploration that he so prides himself of, this time it's "Conqueror". Unlike the previous releases this one shifts tones as mentioned before in a lighter fashion but still in that same layered grandiose sense that the other works have been built upon. The attitude to this album is a bit lighter and flows with a heightened sense of enlightened sound wave adventure. This goes to show how Broadrick can manipulate sound upon invoking emotion from the music. Simply, this man knows where he wants to go with the music.
Fans of Jesu will find no problem indulging in "Conqueror". The album carries less of an after taste of the "Silver" EP and comes into its own. This does not rule out the amount of dynamic that a Jesu album takes into consideration; instead the exploration of sound on this release is done in a way that only you will notice like on the rest of the Jesu releases, by really engaging in it.
