Death Before Dishonor is a group that is basically a living legend at this point and the band has another album that continues their legacy. "Count Me In" is just that though, another Death Before Dishonor album. This band is already world renowned and has too many releases to mention in this review, but they find themselves spinning the same musical wheel and getting nowhere while retaining their reputation. There's only so much one can say about a new Death Before Dishonor album in that every album as mentioned above is the same, aside from the lyrics. At this point, as a band, Death Before Dishonor have yet to ask themselves if it's truly necessary to keep putting out albums and just stick to being a touring band. At a point a band must recognize that musically, it has painted itself into a corner and the only way to get out of that corner is expanding the walls. I do not see that happening any time soon for DBD. The result of the refusal to go further in the musical sense leaves a fan with stale, reiterated albums that you have you reaching into the band's past catalog for a familiarity that will never change and never challenge you. I am not saying DBD should compromise their HC roots or their voice or whatever the hell you want to call it, but music is something that is not meant to sit and stew in its same juices for years. "Count Me In" is nothing new, call it new but you are just fooling yourself. Review by: Dave Huffy Read Member Reviews |
