Nothing has really changed since "The End of Heartache". Howard Jones is still crying over some dumb bitch which if you take his lyrics from this release and the last combined with his lyrics from Blood Has Been Shed, you have...the same song! It's no surprise that the quality of KSE's songs have gone down. Not only does Jones end up killing the songs with this whining but the riffs are rolling back on themselves providing a relapse in the writing with nowhere to go.
For those who were fans of "Alive or Just Breathing" it's time to come to terms that this band, though awesome musicians, are producing songs that are catering to an audience you should've seen coming. Only now they are strictly playing for that audience who are in return eating it up big time. Granted some of the riffage on this disc is still brutal at times, the melody of things gets too overwhelming and floods any type of real brutality this disc can deliver.
We all should have seen this coming. The success of this band is in no way a surprise and it's good to see a band making their way up. But, at the same time the band's music has comprised itself to appease the snotty bastards who probably never even heard the band's self titled. Oh well.
