With the passing of Piggy it was only right that the new Voivod be released as the guitar tracks were already complete before his passing. And if only he could see the final product as 'Katorz' makes for yet another powerful and memorable metal release, the way that the band has always been known for. True guitar skill is found in every second of this release which by default draws attention to itself as it is a Voivod album.
Being as they are, Voivod really can't disappoint anyone who has any inkling of who they are. This new album moves the band into the ranks of timeless rockin metal which no matter at what point you began listening to Voivod, it's like a refreshing listen with each disc that brings with it the new Voivod and the old.
'Katorz' is no exception to the ways the band has set itself in for the past 20 years. The album strikes a theme that, like previous efforts, is a continious motion of well rounded musicianship in ways of incorporating the metal vibe with their rock n' roll tone. There's nothing more that one can ask for in this album that hasn't already been fulfilled by this band's living legendary status.
It's hard to find the words for a band that you can only give so much credit to that already hasn't been given to them. So trust your own experience with Voivod to let you submit yourself to yet another excellent release by this great band who is still underrated in the music world. 'Katorz' is another slab of great Voivod, you know the rest.
