Richard Johnson has returned with yet another band that will have no problem capturing your ears. Drugs of Faith, having originally formed in 2002, debuts its self titled full length on Selfmadegod records. Johnson isn't one who goes after the same vein as Drugs of Faith will prove to be a release that genuinely shines this year amongst the mediocrity that's proclaimed great during the year.
Unlike the norm, Drugs of Faith mixes a well educated blend of grind, punk and hardcore to give you more of what you would think of Johnson's previous project Enemy Soil more so than Agoraphobic Nosebleed. This trio is well rounded in diversity of sound as you will hear on this album which is in part one of the reasons you will be hooked by the dirty, heavily varied paced sound it screams in your ear.
When a band takes hold of such diversity within their sound the end product usually comes out extremely well, and in the vein of heavier music they have accomplished that multi faceted sound. And with a social political message, their point is made through song and lyrics.
It doesn't matter if you are strictly into grind, hardcore or punk, Drugs of Faith hops around many lines and edges to give you an all around interesting listen.
