Pushing at a glance a predictably Gothic synth metal blend, Florida's Deadstar Assembly's sophomore album UNSAVED has all of the elements to be the perfect soundtrack for one of those club scenes on primetime television. This 14-track offering liberally borrows from Marilyn Manson, Ministry, The Murderdolls, and NIN, as tracks like 2 echo the sentiments of Hot Topic kids everywhere, while 5 sounds like the perfect marriage of Depeche Mode and Sevendust. The style and image may be a bit much to stomach, but the songs with hooks that can rock arenas with Korn like 13 are very prominent across the collection. Definitely one for the strippers and the everyday is Halloween set, UNSAVED's well-balanced mixture of silly schlock and solid rock makes for a non-offensive listen.
