If you can't listen to 'Dein Herz Schlagt' without immediately thinking of another, much more prominent German band, you haven't turned on rock radio in the past five years. If this were the new Rammstein album, this batch of songs would likely turn a great many heads. Megaherz come off as being equally as musically clever as their homeland brethren on '5' and when you couple that feat with bold, high-class production and solid songwriting, you have a sure winner.

Megaherz exhibits a wide array of varied sounds, the most prominent being metal and club/techno (blame Rob Zombie). At times though, there's a little more of a Linkin Park vibe going on due to presence of programming, as on 'Ja Genau.' A strong pop hook follows a rapped chorus that's actually a bit closer to the sound of Falco. You got to rock me Megaherz. A metal outro turns things back into a more expected direction, culminating in the mentioned LP-type hook. Updated German porno soundtrack or new wave metal hit? We'll let you decide.

'Gott Sein '04' begs for spins at the coolest raver joints. A crisp, distorted guitar sound gives the track muscle but the club underpinnings and memorable hook make it more than your average Nu Metal variety. At times the band go for a further, alt rock-influenced tone, as on 'Wann Wirst Du Gehn?', which is nearly balladesque with its lyrics of separation being well-fitting in consideration of the song's pleading musical mood.

Vocalist Mathias "Jablonski" Elsholz takes advantage of the highly contrasting sounds of 'Gottlich', showing up with a skillful, varied vocal performance. Much of the appeal of Megaherz relies upon the band's disregard of musical borders, much as The Apocalyptic Riders. While Megaherz never throw it down as heavily as the Riders, a distinct parallel may be drawn in each of the band's more pop-oriented material. Lyrics are sung in Deutsch throughout the album for that uber-euro quality that only German metal acts can achieve.

"If you can’t listen to “Dein Herz Schlagt” without immediately thinking of another, much more prominent German band, you haven’t turned on rock radio in the past five years." - So, uh, what exactly reminded you of Rammstein as you seem to keep comparing them to other bands instead...Just because they sing in German and are a rock band?

I checked out a few auydio samples online at Amazon.com and these guys kick serious ass. I can't wait for them to tour here in the US.
